Cottage Charm from the Embroidery Hoop: The Lavender House
Lavender simply feels like summer to me. Its lovely fragrance, soft shades of purple, and romantic country-cottage charm inspired me to create this new embroidery design: the Lavender House. The result is two sweet little houses, both made entirely in the embroidery hoop and perfect for all kinds of lovely uses.
Two Lavender Houses for So Many Lovely Ideas
The small Lavender House is stitched in a 10×10 cm embroidery hoop. It works especially well as a keychain, bag charm, gift tag, or thoughtful little gift.
The larger house for the 13×18 cm embroidery hoop can be used as a decorative hanging ornament, a small scented pillow, or a charming piece of cottage decor. Filled with dried lavender, it also gives off a wonderfully delicate fragrance.
Made Entirely In the Hoop
Both houses are made completely in the embroidery hoop. On the larger house, the roof, door, and little window are appliquéd, while the smaller house is fully embroidered except for the appliquéd roof.

Fabric Ideas for Your Lavender House
I think these little houses look their very best when made with natural-looking fabrics and soft, gentle colors. Here are a few ideas for you:

green fabric for the door and shutters
natural shades for a simple country-style look
The design looks especially pretty when the colors of the roof, door, and window are coordinated.
Filling Ideas for Your Lavender House
Along with traditional polyester stuffing, you could also use:
dried lavender
a mixture of lavender and polyester stuffing
scented filling granules
small fabric scraps for a soft filling
