Little Autumn Hearts - in the Hoop
With this embroidery design set, you can create 5 small autumn hearts completely in the hoop. The motifs are the same as in the “Little Autumn Cross Stitches” set, but here they are turned into charming little padded ornaments.
The hearts are stitched in the embroidery hoop and then turned right side out. Afterwards, you can fill them with polyester stuffing. For an especially handmade look, you can add small running stitches by hand around the edge after embroidery. This little detail works beautifully with linen and the cross-stitch motifs.
Each heart has its own size and shape. The set includes:
- Toadstools
- Rosehip Heart
- Rosehip Branch
- Pumpkin
- Snail with Fern
All 5 hearts fit the 13 × 18 cm / 5 × 7 inch hoop.
The finished hearts are wonderfully versatile. Use them as autumn decorations, gift tags, cupboard or door ornaments, decorations for baskets or candle jars, or simply arrange them with pumpkins, branches and other seasonal treasures.
For the cross-stitch motifs, I recommend using 30 wt cotton thread. Especially on linen, this creates a beautiful look that is very close to traditional hand stitching.
You will need:
Linen or another suitable fabric for the front and back, cut-away stabilizer, embroidery thread or 30 wt cotton thread for the cross stitches, polyester stuffing, ribbon or lace for the hanging loop, and optionally embroidery thread for the hand-stitched running stitches.
The decorative running stitches around the edges are optional and are added by hand after the machine embroidery is finished.
