My new sewing room

My sewing room is the former baby room of my son. After he got the larger room in the house, I was allowed to move in with my sewing machines, embroidery machine and all the fabrics and what you need and was always very, very happy in my little room. In 2013, there was already a first update with a new shelf and a few visual embellishments. But the dark wooden ceiling remained so dark, the carpet is just no longer bright yellow after 20 years and ...well, at some point it's time for something new.

Sometime in the fall, I whined a bit and told my husband that I desperately need a new fabric shelf because my old one doesn't look nice anymore.

And what does my dearest all husbands say? Well, if we're going to start there, let's do everything, and I mean EVERYTHING! Over the Christmas break! I have a little bit schudbewußt deny that it is yet a lot of work and the money and anyway, so about 1 minute long, then I have already started planning ;-)

Want to see again quickly how it looked just before painting?

It was quite clear that it must be white IKEA furniture. All the colorful sewing stuff brings so much color, so the furniture must be bright and clear. The wooden ceiling has my dearest husband glazed lighter, which already makes an incredible difference (and was quite a stupid job, the more grateful I am for it).

The walls now glow bright green, the floor coral, which is exactly how I wanted it. And IKEA is so incredibly fast, all the furniture arrived on time and in full just before Christmas.

And after 7 days of really really hard work, it is now so bright, so friendly and the room somehow looks like it has grown.

The only old furniture that was allowed to stay is this wooden cabinet from my grandma. Even though it's not white and I'm not going to paint it, I like it a lot, especially because it used to belong to my grandparents and I'm sure it's been through a lot. And all my clothing fabrics fit in there.

Then right next to it is the ever-popular Kallax. What I like the, so flexible and so white :-)

And to the right of the Kallax are 3 CD shelves, just perfect for my patchwork fabrics.

Opposite is the large embroidery machine. so that it fits better with my new flair in the sewing room, I simply covered the steel frame with fabric. Underneath are then loud embroidery thread cases and the embroidery fleece rolls.

The Alex drawer cabinet has disappointed me a bit, it goes in less than I thought. But the Sashiko is now on it. Also good.

The shelf above the work table is not as cluttered as the previous one, everything is nice and orderly. i hope it stays that way.

My beloved sewing foot cabinet now finally matches in color. Inside are all my BERNINA feet.

Of course, I then went wild with decorating and putting things away during the rest of the Christmas vacations, for example, putting all the buttons into the Mason Jar jars sorted by color, covering the tissue box with Tilda paper and making a small matching box.

In the small white cabinet I put favorite ribbons or new small pincushions, that will be a changing exhibition. On top of the cabinet are still a few handmade boxes.

That was the little tour through my sewing room. What do you think? I am absolutely thrilled and so grateful to my husband for all the work. The relaxation was not so great during the Christmas vacations, but there are still more vacations :-)

Best regards

Yours Tatjana
